DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Authorities searching for the cause of a
southwest Ohio explosion that leveled a vacant home began excavating
rubble from the basement area.
The blast in the vacant home Monday morning in Dayton damaged as many as 30 area homes and caused some
minor injuries.
The Dayton Daily News (http://bit.ly/1rdl0Qp )
reports that arson investigators from the Dayton Fire Department as
well as the state fire marshal’s office and the Bureau of Alcohol,
Tobacco and Firearms were involved in the excavation late Monday.
The
owner of the home that was destroyed — and one adjacent to it that was
set on fire by the explosion — was shaken up but not seriously injured.
Authorities said the second home was so badly damaged it will probably
have to be demolished, too.
