BRIDGEPORT, Ohio (AP) — The state fire marshal's office says three people died and two were hospitalized after a blaze at an apartment building in eastern Ohio.
It's not clear what caused the fire late Sunday morning at the building in Bridgeport, along the Ohio River.
WTOV-TV (http://bit.ly/ZDzJpn ) reports relatives of the victims said that the three people who died were young children and that their parents were injured. The fire marshal's office said it couldn't confirm that information Monday and wasn't releasing further details pending a coroner's report.
One witness to the Sunday fire told the television station she saw a man run out of the building with a screaming woman whose hands were burnt.
The fire damaged several apartments.
