Detroit Zoo attendance at 1 million for eighth straight year

ROYAL OAK, Mich. (AP) — The Detroit Zoo says it has surpassed the 1-million-visitor attendance mark for the eighth consecutive year.

The milestone was reached on Sunday.

The zoo in Royal Oak set a single-day attendance record of 20,113 visitors on Aug. 3.

It says in a news release that continued improvements at the zoo and seasonable weather have contributed to the turnout figures.
