Detroit invites bankruptcy judge to tour city

DETROIT (AP) — Bankruptcy lawyers representing Detroit are
inviting the judge on a bus tour to see the "good, the bad and the
ugly."
Robert Hertzberg told Judge Steven Rhodes there’s a "lot of
hope" to see, too. He says a trip around Detroit would be appropriate
in July when the judge holds a trial on the city’s plan to emerge from
bankruptcy.
Rhodes didn’t respond to the offer Thursday. Just
moments later, a fire alarm went off, forcing everyone to leave the
10-story Detroit federal courthouse for about an hour. There was no
fire.
Creditors have until July 11 to vote on Detroit’s bankruptcy
plan, from pension cuts to bond losses. The judge will then hold a
trial.
