Damaged golf ball sculpture found near course

DUBLIN, Ohio (AP) — An oversize golf ball sculpture stolen in suburban Columbus has been found but is in need of repairs.

The Columbus Dispatch (http://bit.ly/19CaNWl ) reports someone discovered the more than 5-foot-tall piece Saturday in Dublin, down the road from where it disappeared last week after the Presidents Cup.

Officials had offered a mulligan to whoever was responsible for stealing it, saying no charges would be filed and no questions asked if it was safely returned by Saturday night. The $2,500 sculpture created for a public art display weighs more than 200 pounds and features a tee holding a ball decorated with the Memorial Tournament logo.

The ball was found with a foot-long crack and other scratches. A Dublin spokeswoman says the city will have to cover the cost to fix it.
