COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Sheriff's deputies in central Ohio are seeking the parents of a 16-month-old girl charged after the child died from being left in a room with a space heater on last month.
The Franklin County Sheriff's Office said Monday that 29-year-old Michael Wilder and 23-year-old Greta Sahatciu were charged with a felony count of endangering children, and Wilder faces an additional charge of involuntary manslaughter.
Deputies said Maiya Wilder was unresponsive when her father rushed her to a Columbus hospital on June 29. She died two days later.
Detectives said they determined that the toddler was left unattended for 10 hours in a bedroom with a space heater on.
Detectives are still trying to locate the couple, whose other two children are now in the custody of social services.
