Cincy streetcar project on track

CINCINNATI (AP) — One year after construction started, the downtown Cincinnati streetcar project is still
on track.
The Cincinnati Enquirer (http://cin.ci/1jtHBIR ) reports that the $133 million project is on time and on
budget. It’s scheduled to open in September 2016.
The 3.6-mile streetcar line is designed to connect Cincinnati’s downtown and riverfront stadiums with the
nearby Over-the-Rhine historic district’s trendy bars, restaurants and a popular farmers market.
It’s been a bumpy ride for the streetcar.
The project had opposition from the start, but voters approved it through two referendums. Cincinnati
Mayor John Cranley, elected in November, then vowed not to support more spending on the project, but a
city council vote revitalized it.
