DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — A Chinese company has finalized its plan to build an automotive glass-making plant in
southwest Ohio, creating about 800 jobs and revitalizing a former General Motors factory site.
Fuyao Glass Industry Group Co. paid $15 million for 1.2 million square feet for the former auto plant and
plans a $230 million investment.
The Dayton Daily News reported (http://bit.ly/1jBR75N ) that following the completion of the deal
Thursday hiring will begin next week for top managers and engineers.
The company chairman said the facility is poised to become Fuyao’s largest plant and possibly the heart
of its U.S. research and development center.
Ohio officials have said it’s the state’s biggest Chinese investment yet.
The GM assembly plant employed 1,100 workers when it closed in late 2008.
