COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A not-for-profit organization targeting insurance fraud and vehicle theft says large Chevrolet pickup trucks were the type of vehicle most reported stolen in Ohio last year and were ranked fourth on the national list.
The National Insurance Crime Bureau says Dodge Caravan minivans, large Ford pickups and Buick Century sedans also made the top five for Ohio, in addition to cars in the Oldsmobile Cutlass line.
The NICB report is based on theft data submitted to the National Crime Information Center by law enforcement agencies.
Nationwide, the most stolen type of vehicle in 2012 was the Honda Accord, with more than 58,000 thefts of that car reported. The Honda Civic, large Ford pickups and the Toyota Camry rounded out the top five for the U.S.
