HILLSBORO, Ohio (AP) — A southwest Ohio judge has set bond at $100,000 each for a Richmond, Ky., couple charged in connection with the discovery last week of a 1-year-old boy's body in woods near Hillsboro.

Hillsboro Municipal Court Judge David McKenna also ordered electronic monitoring if they do post bail. The couple indicated they are unable to afford an attorney. One likely will be appointed for them before a June 13 hearing.

Twenty-six-year-old Whitney Johnson and 25-year-old Nathan Ritze are charged with felony counts of abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence. They were brought Monday from Kentucky.

Police say Johnson told investigators Garin Niehaus (NEE'-hows) had pneumonia. A coroner's office will do extensive lab testing to determine cause of death.

Authorities suspect the boy was buried in the woods last December.
