DALEVILLE, Ind. (AP) — A 4-year-old girl has died and six
other people have been injured in a crash that shut down Interstate 69
between Anderson and Muncie.
Indiana State Police say the girl,
Tavionna Ford of Indianapolis, wasn’t in a child seat before the crash
Tuesday near Daleville, about 40 miles northeast of Indianapolis.
Troopers
say a car driven by the girl’s grandmother, 41-year-old Donna Randolph
of Indianapolis, stopped in the northbound right lane and a pickup
driven by 72-year-old Harold Shemberger Jr. of Luther, Michigan,
rear-ended it.
Troopers say a second child and an adult from
Randolph’s car were airlifted to Indianapolis hospitals. Both drivers
and two others also were injured.
The crash closed all lanes of the highway for about two hours and northbound lanes for an additional 90
minutes.
