Wilma-Young-Obit-PictureWilma B. Young, 82 of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013.
Wilma was born in Hennef, Germany to the late Wilhelm A. and Maria (Thomas) Schell. She married Donald C. Young in the St. Matthias Church in Detroit, Michigan in 1952 and he preceded her in death in August of 2008.
Wilma is survived by her daughter: Lori (David Pfleger) Young, of Bowling Green, Ohio; a son: Neal (Vicki) Young, of Grand Rapids, Michigan; grandchildren: Helen and Thomas Young of Grand Rapids, Michigan; sisters: Cacilia Esser and Brunhilde Jochmus-Stocke, of Bonn, Germany and her four-legged companion Ms. Mavis.
Wilma became a United States Citizen in 1956 in Detroit, Michigan.
Wilma was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her children and taking care of her family. She also took great pride in taking care of animals and rescued and fostered many dogs throughout her life.
Wilma loved to sew and especially enjoyed knitting. Wilma loved to give her knitted scarves and socks to her friends, family and many local charities. Wilma also enjoyed painting and making hand-made wooden dolls and clothing which were reminiscent to her childhood days growing up in Germany.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2013 in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1460 W. Wooster Street/P.O. Box 648, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402, Tele: 419-352-2171.
Memorial contributions can be given in Wilma's honor to the Wood County Senior Center, 305 North Main Street, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402.
