Wilbur G. Ehmke, age 93, formerly of Woodville, OH, most recently of Perrysburg, OH, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Avalon by Otterbein, Perrysburg, OH, where he had been a resident for several years.
He was born on February 7, 1920 in Elyria, KS to George and Adina (Waltner) Ehmke. He married Jessie Riffle in 1943, Florence (Zeiter) Kohlenberg in 1962 and Hilda (Heilman) Cluckey in 1986, and they all have preceded him in death.
Wilbur was a plumber pipefitter for: Harvey Knieram Plumbing, Busdiecker Heating and Plumbing and Magnesium War Products. He was also a house insulator with John Hock and Company, Genoa, OH.
His memberships included: Local 50 Plumber and Pipefitters Union, Woodville United Methodist Church, Woodville, past member of Portage Masonic Lodge and former Eastern Star.
He served on the Woodville Village Council for 20 years, Board of Public Affairs for four years and Democratic Central Committee.
Wilbur received the Local 50 Lifetime Membership Award and Senior Citizens Hall of Fame Award WSOS.
In his spare time he was an avid reader, game player and a Cleveland Indians fan.
Wilbur is survived by his sons: Tom (Claudia) Ehmke of Weston, Jerry (Darlene) Ehmke of McCormick, SC, Ray (Jane) Kohlenberg of Pemberville, Richard Cluckey of Woodville, daughters: Janet (Dennis) Andrews of Pemberville, Phyllis Kohlenberg of Granger, IN, Susan (Dan) Baker, Gibsonburg, Sally (Bill) Herr and Cindy Wilkens, both of Fremont, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, brother: Bruce Ehmke of Bowling Green, sister: Marie Clark of Burns, KS, sisters-in-law: Mary Ehmke of Oregon and Marge Ehmke of Perrysburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wives: Jessie, Florence and Hilda, son: Robert Cluckey, grandson, brothers: Homer and Harvey Ehmke, sister-in-law: Ruth Ehmke and brother-in-law: Ivan Clark.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Home, 201 W. Main Street, Woodville, OH. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 11 a.m. from the Woodville United Methodist Church, where there will be additional visitation from 10 a.m. until time of services. Officiating will be Rev. Carol Williams-Young. Interment will be in Westwood Cemetery, Woodville, OH.
A bereavement luncheon will be served at the church immediately following the cemetery committal service.
Memorial contributions may be given to: Woodville United Methodist Church, Avalon by Otterbein or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
