Henderson, NC – Warren John Lotz, age 87, a former resident of Bowling Green and McArthur, Ohio, and
current resident of Henderson, NC died Tuesday February 4, 2014 at Granville Medical Center in Oxford,
NC.
Born May 12, 1926 in Fort Wayne, IN, he was the son of the late Herman Martin Lotz and Wilhelmina
Reckeweg Lotz.
He was a graduate of Southside High School and Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was also a
graduate of the University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois and the University of Toledo College of
Law.
A Veteran of the United States Navy, he served in WW II aboard the USS Alabama.
He was a former attorney and prosecutor in Wood County, Ohio and a retired attorney and common pleas
judge in Vinton County, Ohio.
Mr. Lotz was a member of the Grand Rapids Lodge 289, Grand Rapids, Ohio, Royal Arch Masons of Ohio in
McArthur, Royal Arch Masons Athens Council 15 in Athens, and Athens County Shrine Club.
He was a former member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Bowling Green, Ohio and Christ Lutheran Church in
Athens, Ohio and a current member of First United Methodist Church in Henderson, NC.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 69 Mill
Street, Athens, Ohio by Pastor Lynn Miller.
Mr. Lotz is survived by three daughters, Joyce Lotz of Henderson, NC; Deborah L. Stukey of Buckhead,
Georgia; and Susan L. Nicholas and husband Mike of Henderson, NC; two grandchildren, Michael Nicholas,
II and wife Meagan and Michaela Nicholas; and one great-granddaughter, Madison Nicholas. He is also
survived by his former wife, Evelyn "Lou" Lotz of Henderson, NC.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce L. Castleman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
