KENTON - Vivienne Elaine Hommel, age 89, of Kenton, Ohio, died Thursday (Feb. 14, 2013) at 3 a.m. at Kenton Nursing and Rehab Center.
She was born Dec. 31, 1923 in Kenton to Walter and Vera (Hayes) Arnett. She married Robert R. Hommel on Oct. 4, 1942, and he passed on Oct. 21, 1981.
Surviving are two daughters, Madge (John) Brown of Bowling Green, and Carol (Richard) Wilcox of Kenton; grandchildren, Amy Long of Bowling Green; Dustin (Dacy) Wilcox of Kenton; Rodney (Trish) Wilcox of Kenton; Mike (Sheila) Brown of Hamler; Gordon (Robin) Digby and Todd (Jennifer) Brown, both of Bowling Green; great-grandchildren, Alec, Ashlyn, Austin, Bailey, Blaine, Clayton, Eli, Garrett, Hanna, Keegan, Kiley, Kolby, Aubrey and Evan.
She also was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard, Charles, Kenneth and Ted Arnett; and sisters, Marian Ruhlen and Helen Baker.
Mrs. Hommel worked at North Electric Co. and the Sears Store in Kenton.
She graduated from Kenton High School in 1941.
Vivienne was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Kenton, and the Naomi Circle at the church; Kenton Elks Lodge Ladies; the Greenwood Grange for many years; Kenton Garden Club; the Hardin County Republican Women; the Ladies of the Kenton Moose Lodge; and Nite Owls Homemakers.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2013 at the Schindewolf Stevens Stout Funeral Home. Visitation will precede the service from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday (Feb. 18, 2013) at Schindewolf Stevens Stout Funeral Home. Burial will be at Grove Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Hardin County Dog Pound Building Project and/or Hardin County Hospice.
