Obit-Picture-Tim-DowneyA Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday for Timothy G. Downey, of Weston. The services will begin at 11 a.m. in First Christian Church, Bowling Green.
Mr. Downey, age 65, died June 10, 2012.
Arrangements were handled by Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home & Crematory.

Timothy G. Downey, 65, of Weston, Ohio passed away, Sunday June 10, 2012.
Timothy was born in Bluffton, Ohio to the late Marion E. and Mary Elizabeth (Amstuz) Downey. He married the love of his life Debra (McKibben) Downey on March 27, 1970 in the First Mennonite Church in Bluffton.
Timothy was a 1965 graduate of Lafayette Jackson High School. After high school he went on to serve his country proud in the United States Army where he served for two years in Germany as a Helicopter Mechanic and was a member of the Search and Retrieval Team for downed aircraft in the mountains.
After being honorably discharged Tim returned to Ohio and attended Bowling Green State University where he was a member of the BGSU Gymnastics Team.
Tim went on to work for the City of Bowling Green as an Electrical Lineman and later as a Electrical Supervisor. He retired after 35 years of service. Tim also was a part-time farmer and enjoyed working outside on the farm.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Bowling Green, where he was an active member and served many years as a Deacon.
Tim was a very well known person and helped several of the county youth achieve their goals in track. Tim coached the Otsego Track & Field Team for over 31 years and his coaching career led to six individual state championships and numerous runners up in the pole vault competition over his coaching career. Tim also had the honor in coaching his son Travis to a four-time outdoor MAC Championship which led to his son being inducted into the Bowling Green State University Hall of Fame. Tim was recently honored on May 4, 2012 for his years of service and dedication at the Otsego Invitational. Tim also received an Honoree Diploma from Otsego High School for his years of Volunteer and Service to the school.
Tim was a true family man and his family was his number one priority. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren going camping. He also loved working with his hands and enjoyed several types of woodworking. Tim also engineered and built a farm home and a covered bridge here in Wood County. He enjoyed downhill skiing with his family and friends and also loved to plant trees and bailing hay, but most of all he enjoyed the time spent working with his sons at Downey Plumbing, Heating & Electrical.
Along with his wife Debra, Tim is survived by his five sons: Shaun (Tammie) Downey of Grand Rapids, Ohio; Travis (Karen) Downey, of Bowling Green, Ohio; Nathan Downey of Weston, Ohio; Drew (Jillian) Downey, of Grand Rapids, Ohio; Ethan Downey of Bowling Green, Ohio; Grandchildren: Briton, Alysa, David, Kyle, Lukas, Madeline and Logan; one great-grandchild: Jaelynn; a sister: Barbara (Chuck) Runyan, of Indianapolis, Indiana; brothers: Steven (Chris) Downey, of Lima, Ohio and Lance (Liz) Downey of Lima, Ohio.
Along with his parents, Tim was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Downey.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 12, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1460 W. Wooster Street/P.O. Box 648, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402, Tele: 419-352-2171. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the First Christian Church, Bowling Green.
Memorial contributions may be gifted in Tim's honor to the First Christian Church, 875 Haskins Road, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402 or to Bridge Home Health & Hospice, 1037 Conneaut Avenue, Suite 204, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402.

Tim always gave his all to his Family first and then to the Commuity. Well respected honorable Man. Rest in Peace Tim. Prayers for his Family.
