Schaefer-Sara-obitSara B. Schaefer, age 97, of Bowling Green, Ohio, a former Salem resident, died Sunday morning, March 17, 2013 at the Heritage Corner Health Care Campus in Bowling Green.
She was born November 11, 1915 in Colerain, Ohio, a daughter of the late Lewis and Myrtle (Ferguson) Starbuck.
Mrs. Schaefer was a 1934 graduate of Salem High School. She had worked in the Salem High School cafeteria and had previously owned the Wade Schaefer Garage with her late husband, Wade.
She was a member of the Holy Trinity English Lutheran Church in Salem and the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Bowling Green.
She enjoyed sewing, crafts and playing cards and was a member of the Salem Antique Car Club.
Her husband, Wade Schaefer, whom she married December 4, 1937, preceded her in death December 11, 2002. Two brothers, Harry and Ray Starbuck, and three sisters, Lena Althouse, Helen Mosher and Margaret McConnell, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Rev. Dale (Ginger) Schaefer of Bowling Green; a daughter, Lois (Mark) Hross of Collinsville, Alabama; a sister, Edith Berger of Salem; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Holy Trinity English Lutheran Church in Salem with Pastor Connie Sassanella officiating. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church prior to the services.
Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Bowling Green.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Heritage Health Care Center and the Bridge Hospice for the excellent care and compassion they gave to Sara.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Trinity English Lutheran Church, 1089 East State Street, Salem, OH 44460; or St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 315 South College Drive, Bowling Green, OH 43402.
Arrangements were handled by the Stark Memorial Funeral Home in Salem.

PASTORR DALE AND FAMILY, SORRY I CAN`T BE THERE DUE TO HEALTH ISSUES, BUT MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. I THOUGGHT ALOT OF YOUR MOTHER, SHE WAS A VERY SPECIAL LADY. SHE IS WITH THE LORD AFTER A VERY LONG LIFE. MARLENE
