Bowling Green State University Professor emeritus Daniel Tutolo, age 79, passed away at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo on March 26.
Dan was born August 30, 1934 to the late Felice and Maria Libera (Marra) Tutolo in South Euclid, Ohio.
He received his bachelor of science degree in business in 1957 and his master's degree in Education in 1963 from Kent State University.
He began his career as a teacher and developed an interest in teaching children to read and encouraging them to enjoy books. He returned to school and earned his Ph.D. in education from The University of Akron in 1971.
After teaching at The Ohio State University, Dan joined the faculty of Bowling Green State University as a professor in 1973 and began a distinguished career of teaching, research, and community service.
In 1981, Dan began to visit schools in Italy to research comparative education, an interest that continued throughout his lifetime. He was a consummate scholar and educator in the areas of attention, listening, and play as basic components in literacy.

Victor-Pompa-obit-picVictor Felix Pompa, 68, died March 11, 2014 in Casper, Wyoming, following a long illness.
He was born March 6, 1946 in Weston Ohio, to the late Castulo and Theodora Pompa.
Victor served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Sergeant. 1 Corp. Vietnam – three tours from 1965 – 1969. He was very proud to be a Marine and served his country well.
He moved to Wyoming where he could pursue his passion for hunting and fishing.
He worked at the Wyoming Life Resource Center for 23 years as a Spanish/English Translator.
He also had a love for music and would spend hours recording it on his reel to reel. Vic lived more than 30 years in Wyoming. His family enjoyed many vacations with him at his home in Lander and family gatherings in Ohio.
Preceding him in death were beloved parents; substitute father from the age of 2, Trinidad Serrato I.

john-winters-obitJohn A. Winters, 88, of Bowling Green, OH, died March 26, 2014 at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Bowling Green, OH.
He was born September 30, 1925 in Leipsic, OH to Jay and Zorah (Snyder) Winters.
John served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946, aboard the USS Wyoming.
He worked for Local #33.
His memberships included Sheet Metal Workers International Assoc. #33, Lybarger Grimm Post #441, Bowling Green AMVETS, Wood County Veterans Committee, VFW #1148, Ohio State Association of Veterans Service Commissions, Wood County Masonic Lodge #112, which he was chosen Mason of the year twice, and Grand Council Royal and select Mason of Ohio Bowling Green Council #124.
He married Doris (Duncan) May 7, 1949. She survives along with sons, Jim Winters of Weston, OH and Doug Winters of Bowling Green, OH.

Norma L. Keogh, 70, of Whitehouse, died Sunday (March 23, 2014).  
A celebration of Norma's life will be at 2 p.m. April 12, at Community of Christ Lutheran Church, Whitehouse.
Arrangements by Peinert-Dunn Funeral Homes.
