Sujkowski-Gene-obitsEugene J. Sujkowski Jr., age 74, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer.
He was born on August 3, 1939 in Toledo to Eugene and Alice (Sobieralski) Sujkowski.
Gene attended St. Stanislaus grade school and was a 1957 graduate of Central Catholic High School. He received his BA Degree from St. Vincent College and completed his Mortuary Science Degree from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1962. That same year Gene married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Marcia (Matuszewski) on June 23rd.
After passing the State Board Exam he went on to work at the family business which was established in 1888, located on Nebraska Avenue. He was the 4th generation and became co-owner with his brother, Bill, after the passing of their father in 1978. In 1980 the business moved to its new location on Airport Highway.

Ann was born and raised in Findlay, Ohio to Donald A. and Beverly (Palmer) Rooney.
She married Thomas J. McDermott on August 1, 1981 in Findlay, Ohio and he survives her in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Along with her husband Thomas, Ann is survived by her mother: Beverly Rooney, of Findlay, Ohio; sons: Patrick (Shaina) McDermott, of Bowling Green, Ohio; Andrew McDermott, of Bowling Green, Ohio; Ross McDermott, of Columbus, Ohio; a sister: Jill (Franz) Weckesser, of Spring Valley, Ohio; brothers: David (Amy Saunders) Rooney, of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Phillip (Tamera) Rooney, of Findlay, Ohio.
Ann was preceded in death by her father, Donald A. Rooney.

Erford-Gilford-obitGilford "Bus" Erford, 98, of North Baltimore, died at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at the Riverview Health Care Campus in Oak Harbor.
He was born on March 3, 1916, in Hamler, Ohio to the late Peter A. and Effie (Bauhaus) Erford. He married Ina Mae King and she preceded him in death in 1981. He later married Thelma Campbell and she preceded him in death in 1985.
Bus is survived by his son, Bob Erford of North Baltimore; his daughter, Joyce Ann Mull of Port Clinton; his grandchildren: Brent Mull, Susan (Ron) LaWare, Amy (Rock) Sherer, Kristi (Brian) Anderson and Kelly Mull; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; his brother, Raymond Erford of Leipsic; his sister, Rita VonDerEmbse of Ottawa; his sister-in-law, Martha Erford of Ottawa; and his brother-in-law, William King of Bowling Green.
He was preceded in death by his brothers: Cletus Erford, Francis Charles Erford and Robert Erford; his sisters: Sarah Erford and Mary Josita Erford.

Ehmke-Mary-obitMary M. Ehmke, age 88, formerly of Woodville, OH, most recently of Oregon, OH, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 28, 2014 at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, OH.
She was born on June 18, 1925 in Raton, New Mexico to Ervis and Nettie (Bach) Mason. On July 8, 1949 she married Homer G. Ehmke in Toledo, OH and he preceded her in death on November 8, 2005.
She was a former bus driver for the Gibsonburg School District.
Mary was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Latcha, OH and enjoyed going to the YMCA in Oregon.
Mary is survived by her daughter: Bonnie (Chuck) Bach of Northwood, OH, son: Donald (Dana) Ehmke of Flagstaff, AZ, grandchildren: Scott Ehmke, Julie (Carl) Brainard, Jeff (Wendy) Bach, Dave Bach and great grandchildren: Jenna and Alyssa.

Melvin Towner, 71, of Whitehouse, OH passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014 at his residence.
Melvin was born in Jackson, MI to the late Helen and Earl Towner.
Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Susan; children: Tim (Sandy), Tom (Lynn), Terry (Jennifer); and seven grandchildren.
Melvin was a lifetime member of Progressive Fishing Association, honorary member of Toledo Bass Club, and a member of Adams Conservation Club. He loved fishing, hunting, NASCAR, and classic cars.
He worked for Toledo Scale, Teledyne, and J & S Industrial.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 4, 2014 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Wright-Habegger Funeral Home, 24084 W. Second St, Grand Rapids, OH 43522.
