Dr. Ray Steiner
Professor Emeritus Dr. Ray Steiner, 72, of Bowling Green, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014.
Ray was born in New York, New York to the late Joseph and Clara (Levine) Finkelstein. He married Carol Cooper at the Monroe St. Methodist Church in 1972 and she survives in Bowling Green.
Also surviving are his sister Sharon Perry of Tucson, Arizona; nephew John (Tamera) Perry of Springfield, Missouri ;and great-nephews James and Cody.
Ray received his Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arizona in 1963 and then his Master's of Science in 1965. In 1968, Ray received his Ph. D. from the Arizona State University, where he did his thesis "On the units in a quadratic field with applications to Mordell's equation." During his time in college Ray had two publications in mathematics.
In 1968, Dr. Steiner became an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Bowling Green State University and in 1972 became an Associate Professor of Mathematics and Statistics. In 1979, Dr. Steiner became a Professor of Mathematics and Statistics at Bowling Green State University, where he taught classes to Undergraduates, Graduate students, until his retirement in 1998.
During his career at Bowling Green State University, Dr. Steiner had over 35 publications in numerous books and papers. Dr. Steiner was a reviewer for the Mathematical Review as well as the Zentrablatt fur Mathematik.

Jeanette (nee Medley) Fries of Milford, OH, peacefully passed away in her sleep on February 15, 2014 at SEM Haven after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Jeanette was 98 years old.
Jeanette Eleanor Fries was born August 5, 1915 in Springfield, Missouri, the only daughter of John and Myrtle Medley. She attended Southwest Missouri State Teacher’s College (now Missouri State University) before moving to Bowling Green, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Fries, a lawyer and the Prosecuting Attorney for Wood County, Ohio.

Leathers-Billie-obitBillie M. Leathers, 95, of Bloomdale, passed away at 11:55 a.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay.
She was born on November 25, 1918, to the late Clyde V. and Ethel (Carter) Strausbaugh Sr. in Gallia County, OH. She married Warren “Buck” Leathers on August 25, 1935, and he preceded her in death in June 2007.
Billie is survived by her sons: Gary Leathers of Arcadia and Mike (Sue) Leathers of Bloomdale; grandchildren: Kathleen (Mark) Rodabaugh of Van Buren, Darci (Jason) Clark of Wilder, KY, Carri (Jason) Stanley of Bowling Green, Jacob Leathers of Bloomdale, Lizbeth Leathers of Portland, OR, Alison Leathers of Phoenix, AZ, and Laura Leathers of Gibsonburg; and nine great-grandchildren.

SecorN-obitNancy Flagg Secor passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Sterling House in Bowling Green, OH on Sunday morning, one day shy of the her 84th birthday.
She was born in Bronxville, NY, to Jewett and Charlotte (Brooks) Flagg on February 17, 1930.
Nancy graduated from the Saint Margaret’s School (Chase Collegiate School) in Waterbury, Ct., earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama and a master’s degree in education from the University of Toledo.
She was a wife, mother, teacher, mentor, volunteer and philanthropist.
After dedicating 15 years of her life to teaching at Ottawa Hills Elementary School, Nancy moved on to help establish the Wood County CASA program as well as the CASA program in her childhood home of Florence, AL.

Margaret L. Ahrns, 95, of Deshler, died Monday morning (Feb. 17, 2014) at Oak Grove Healthcare Center, Deshler.
Arrangements are being handled by Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler.
