Ronald Keith DeWalt, 80, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away peacefully at Toledo Hospital on Friday, April 19, 2013.
Ron was born on March 28, 1933 in Bowling Green, first son of Keith DeWalt and Vivian Aldrich. He attended Bowling Green High School and graduated in 1951.
He joined the Navy after graduation and served on the Navy Air Craft Carrier, The U.S.S. Antietam.
He married Carol Ann Rudolph on August 22, 1953 and she survives in Bowling Green. They raised four children together in their 59 years of marriage: Ronda (Rich) Young, Keith (Chris) DeWalt, Cathy (Pat) Moriarty, and Kara (Darby) Reynolds. They have 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his two brothers, Gary DeWalt of Findlay and Daryl DeWalt of Bowling Green.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Joyce DeWalt Lee.
Ron worked for Brush Wellman in Elmore, Ohio for 36 years. He was a volunteer firefighter for the City of Bowling Green for 30 years. After retirement, he served as a crossing guard for local school children.
He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church all of his life. He loved to garden and he attended many BGSU Hockey Games.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 22, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at DUNN FUNERAL HOME, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 West Wooster Street. A Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 23 at 11 a.m. at St Aloysius Catholic Church in Bowling Green, followed by interment at Oak Grove Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted at the gravesite by the Wood County Honor Detail.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Wood County Humane Society in his honor.
