Robert Muir Shinew, 91, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2014.
He was born on November 8, 1922 in Portage, Ohio to Lester and Zora (Muir) Shinew. He married Esther
Bowen on April 14, 1946 and she preceded him in death on October 14, 2004.
Bob was a retired post office clerk, rural mail carrier and farmer. He was co-owner of Shinew’s
Restaurant in Portage.
He served in the United States Army in World War II. He was a Sergeant in the 1st bomb squadron, 9th bomb
group and 20th Air Force.
He attended First United Methodist Church in Bowling Green. Bob was a past commander of the American
Legion Post 725 in Portage and a member of the Highway Patrol Auxiliary.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Along with his wife Esther, he was preceded in death by his sister Betty Humphreys.
Private funeral services will be held on Friday, May 30, 2014 followed by burial in Portage Cemetery
where The Wood County Honor Detail will provide full military honors.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling
Green at 408 West Wooster Street.
Memorial contributions may be given in Bob’s honor to a charity of the donor’s choice.
