Hayward-Obit-PhotoRick "Howie" Hayward, age 55, of Luckey, OH, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 13, 2013 from injuries sustained from an automobile accident.
He was born on August 14, 1958 in Bowling Green, OH to Ronald L. Hayward and Mary (Kurfis) McClain. He graduated in 1976 from Eastwood High School. On June 9, 1990 he married Joanne (Biesiot) Hayward at Oak Openings Park.
Howie was owner and operator of R&J Auto and Truck since 1990 and KEM's Karryout and Pizza, both of Luckey.
His memberships included: Masonic Lodge #516 F&AM, Pemberville, OH, Tanglewood Golf Course, Eastwood Football Chain Gang and retired 20-year member of Troy Twp. Fire Department.
In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, playing cards, going to his cottage at the lake, riding on his pontoon boat, jet skiing and was also an avid NASCAR fan with Rusty Wallace and Denny Hamlin as his favorite drivers. Most importantly spending time and attending his children's sports events was his main priority.
Rick is survived by his children: Morgan, Kris and Emily, all of Luckey; Joanne; brothers: David (Mary) Hayward of Temple Terrace, FL; Daniel (Debra) Hayward of Kernersville, NC; Douglas Hayward of Perrysburg, OH; and his special buddy: Brandi, his black German Shepherd dog.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, October 20, 2013 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Home, 110 Main Street, Luckey, OH. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 11 a.m. from Zion Lutheran Church, Luckey, OH with additional visitation from 10 a.m. until time of services. Officiating will be Rev. Jaci Tiell. Interment will be Troy Twp. Cemetery, Luckey, OH.
There will be a bereavement luncheon served at the Troy-Webster American Legion Post #240, Luckey, immediately following the cemetery committal services.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions maybe given to: Rick's Children's College Education Fund c/o Morgan Hayward.
