Phyllis W. Henry, 61, of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013, after a
courageous fight with Ovarian Cancer.Phyllis was born in Port Clinton, Ohio to Alfred and Doris
(Schubel) Wendt. She married Dan Henry on March 8, 1975 in Oak Harbor and he survives her in Bowling
Green, Ohio.Along with her husband Dan, Phyllis is survived by her mother, Doris Wendt, of Oak Harbor,
sons: Benjamin (Kristine) Henry, of Ann Arbor, Michigan; Matthew (Emily) Henry, of Bowling Green, Ohio;
grandchildren: Lila A., Carter J., and Faith I. Henry; sisters: Kathleen (John) Fawley; Janet (Joel)
Burg; brothers: Jim (Pat) Wendt; Roger (Tanya) Wendt, and Dale Wendt.Phyllis was preceded in death by
her father: Alfred Wendt and a brother: David Wendt.Phyllis was a graduate of Oak Harbor High School.
After graduation Phyllis furthered her education and obtained her Undergraduate Degree in Education from
Bowling Green State University and also received her Master’s Degree from Bowling Green State
University.After graduation, Phyllis began her career as the Extension Agent for the Wood County
Extension Office from 1974-1976. After leaving the Extension Office, Phyllis enjoyed being a stay at
home mother to her two sons for a few years before going back to BGSU to obtain her Master’s Degree.
After receiving her Master’s Degree, Phyllis became a full time Professor in the College of Education
and Human Development in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at Bowling Green State
University where she remained until her retirement in 2012.Phyllis was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran
Church in Haskins, where she was a member of the women’s group and church choir. Phyllis was a member of
the Dining for Women’s group at Blessed John XXIII and a member of the Wood County Farm Bureau Council.
Phyllis was an avid quilter and attended quilt workshops all over the state of Ohio, she also enjoyed
sewing and making things for her grandchildren.Phyllis loved to travel and especially enjoyed spending
time along the water.She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking and most of all
spoiling her grandchildren.Visitation for Phyllis will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 from 2 to 8
p.m. in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1460 W. Wooster Street/P.O. Box 648, Bowling
Green, Ohio, 43402, Tele: 419-352-2171. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at
10:30 a.m. in the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 17050 Middleton Pike, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402 with Pastor
Jim Paulson officiating. Interment will follow in the Tontogany Cemetery, Tontogany, Ohio.Memorial
contribution in Phyllis’ honor may be given to the St. Paul Lutheran Church or to the National Ovarian
