Oscar-Retterer-ObitOscar J. "Skip" Retterer III passed away January 16, 2013 at his home in Lititz, Pennsylvania, surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Bowling Green, Oscar was the husband of Celeste A. DiMarco and the son of Virginia (Castanien) Retterer of Bowling Green and the late Oscar J. Retterer Jr.
After graduating from Bowling Green High School in 1973, Oscar attended Bowling Green State University. He spent two years studying in Salzburg, Austria and received a Master's Degree in German from BGSU as well as a Doctorate in Educational Technology from the University of Toledo.
For the past 20 years, he was employed by Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania as the Director of Instructional and Emerging Technologies.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by three daughters: Claire, Ella and Olivia Retterer, all of Lititz; and two sisters, Sherry Mortenson and Deborah Chapman.
A celebration of his life will be held for the immediate family and invited guests on Saturday, January 26, 2013. Friends are invited to join them from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bowling Green Country Club on Fairview Avenue.
He simply asked that his friends and family remember him as he was - with a twinkle in his eye and a big smile. He will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Prion Disease Pathology Surveillance Center, Case Western Reserve University, 2085 Adelbert Road, Room 419, Cleveland, OH 44106-4907.

Celeste, Mrs.R., Sherry, Debbie;

Skip was my big brother growing up. Together we had a wonderfully adventurous "boyhood." Though our paths were divergent, I had always hoped to reconnect. Looks like that will now be in another place in time. I am so sorry for your loss and look forward to seeing you on the 26th.

From Sunday morning church school, DeMolay and high school - and your magic shows: Skip I always thought you would be there. I'll say a prayer tonight for you and your family. Everyone who knew you will feel the loss. God bless you.

Skip was a great neighbor and friend to our family at so many different times when I was a kid on Curtis Avenue. He was like the big brother we didn't have. He was so kind, caring and really loving to my brother Chris and best buds with my older sister. Really all of us. He was a blessing to our family and he helped us build a treehouse which was a refuge for my brothers and sisters. A great man down but forever remembered.
