Norman D. Burns

Norman D. Burns, age 82, of Fostoria, Ohio, formerly of Wayne, Ohio passed away peacefully on Wednesday
(March 5, 2014) at The Toledo Hospital.
He was born on March 11, 1931 in Squires, Ohio to the late Virgil N. and Mary E. (Black) Burns. Norman
married Janice M. Stoudinger on October 21, 1950 in Perry Township; she passed away on May 5, 1997.
Surviving Norman are long time companion, Barbara Warner; sons, Mark Steven Burns of Walters, Oklahoma,
Marshal (Jane) Burns of Fostoria, Ohio, Matthew (Violet) Burns of Brunswick, Ohio; daughter, Maralee
Burns-Noone of Wayne, Ohio; grandchildren, Mark (Nicole) Burns II, Jennifer (Marcus) Webb, Elaine (Ryan)
Podach, Ryan Noone, Kenny Burns, Eric Burns; great-grandchildren, Nathan and Brody Webb.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Mary; wife, Janice; brothers, Keith, Gene, Darrel,
Ibert, and Junior Burns; sisters, Leta Kille, Beverly Walters; great-grandson, Reid Podach.
Norman was a 1949 graduate of Risingsun High School, and served his country proudly in the Army during
the Korean War.
He was the manager of the bank in Wayne for many years, was a former member of the Union United Methodist
Church, and was a member of the Elmwood Scholarship Committee, the Albert Bowe American Legion Post #338
in Bradner, and the Fostoria Lions Club. Norman was also a member of the Pemberville Masonic Lodge #516
and was a Masonic Shriner.
Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday (March 9, 2014) at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne,
Ohio, where a Masonic Service will take place on Sunday (March 9, 2014) at 5:45 p.m.
Additional visitation will be held on Monday (March 10, 2014) from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Union United
Methodist Church (2973 Baird Road, Fostoria, Ohio 44830), where a Celebration of Life Service will be
held on Monday (March 10, 2014) with Pastor Kay Hatch officiating.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in West Millgrove, Ohio with Military Honors performed by the Albert
Bowe American Legion Post #338.
Memorial donations may be made to the Masonic Shriners, the Albert Bowe American Legion Post #338, or the
Union United Methodist Church.
