Obituary-Photo-GermannNancy Jane (Klotz) Germann, 73, of Bowling Green passed away Thursday, November 7, 2013.
Nancy was born in Bowling Green, Ohio to the late Merle and Wilhelmine (Marten) Klotz. She married Larry Germann on June 28, 1964 and he survives in Bowling Green.
Also surviving are her children: Cindy (David) Gerken and Jody (Tricia) Germann; four grandchildren: Emily and Elizabeth Gerken and Garrett and Gretchen Germann; brother: Gene (Rita) Klotz, all of Bowling Green.
Nancy was a 1958 graduate of Bowling Green High School and then graduated from the American Floral School in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating from American Floral School, Nancy returned to Bowling Green to work in the family business, Klotz Floral and Gift Center which she later became co-owner. Nancy served on Teleflora boards and committees and participated in their annual conventions.
Nancy was a lifelong member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Bowling Green and recently participated in the Silver's Club and was very active in the St. Mark's Boy Scout Troop #345 where she served as the treasurer. Nancy was a 50-year member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority where she served multiple terms as the President and likewise as City Council Representative. During her time in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Nancy received the "Girl of the Year" award several times. Nancy for many years was a member of the American Business Women's Association of Bowling Green, and was the charter President for the chapter. She served as a 4-H advisor for 15 years and was on the advisory board for 10 years. Nancy was very involved with the Bowling Green FFA activities; she received her honorary Chapter Degree and was also awarded Honorary American FFA Degree.
Other memberships that Nancy enjoyed were the Bowling Green Country Club, the Red Hatter's Society, and the Wood County Hospital Guild. She enjoyed traveling throughout her life. In her later years, Nancy and Larry spent the winter months in Florida, where she was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Haines City, Florida. While in Florida, Nancy repeatedly coordinated holiday parties and dinners for the trailer park.
Nancy's first and up most important thing in her life was her family. She loved them with all her heart and would do anything for them, especially her grandchildren. Some of her greatest joys and memories came from spending time with them. She enjoyed cooking and baking and often took dinners for those in need. Nancy was a people person, a very sociable lady who went out of her way to touch many peoples' lives. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation for Nancy will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 from 4-8 p.m., where a Beta Sigma Phi Memorial Service will be held at 8 p.m. in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1460 W. Wooster St., PO Box 648, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. Tele: 419/352-2171. Additional visitation will be held Sunday, November 10, 2013 from 2-8 p.m. in the funeral home. Nancy's committal service will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, November 11, 2013 in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Bowling Green, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved mother, Wilhelmine. Following the services at the cemetery, a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. in the St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 315 S. College Dr., Bowling Green, Ohio 43402.
Memorial contributions may be gifted in Nancy's honor to either Bridge Hospice, 1069 Klotz Rd., Bowling Green, OH 43402 or to the St. Mark's Lutheran Church, for the Cooper Memorial Garden Maintenances, 315 S. College Dr., Bowling Green, OH 43402.
