 Nancy Ann (nee Doenges) Fitzgerald died on November 29th, at Wood County Hospital, following a heroic battle against Multiple Myeloma. She was born in Celina, Ohio on Feb. 21, 1950 to Lucy and Louis Doenges of rural Auglaize County. From her earliest age, Nancy focused on helping people through nursing. She began as an aide in high school at the hospital in which she was born and then earned her professional diploma at St. Rita's School of Nursing in Lima, Ohio. As an RN, Nancy worked in Norwalk, Conn. and then at BG Community Nursing Home, St. Charles Hospital, Wood County Hospital, Bridge Hospice, and finally at Sunset Village. Nancy was preceded in death by her elderly parents and she is survived by Patrick Fitzgerald, her husband of over 40 years; daughters, Dr. Kerri (Dr. Tung Mai Ha) Fitzgerald, Kathleen (David) Sayler; and beloved grandchildren, Connor and Liam Sayler and Fiona and Norah Hamai. Nancy always cherished her large family of 14 sisters and brothers: Sue (Jim) Wagner, Andy (Jan) Doenges, Joe (Sharon) Doenges, Fran (Mick) Hanselman, Bill (Edie) Doenges, Mark (Terri) Doenges, Rita (Ralph) Tobe, Therese (Bill) Pohlman, Greg (Carol) Doenges, Ed (Marge) Doenges, Kathy (Rob) Tucker, Barb Doenges, Jeff Doenges and Amy (Shawn) Brady. Nancy thoroughly enjoyed family gatherings and all aspects of her extended family including over 75 children and grandchildren of her brothers and sisters. Nancy's faith and values inspired her dedication to causes of social justice and individual freedom through many private and public organizations including Amnesty International, Save The Children, Dooley International, Pax Christi and others. When possible, she relished golfing with friends, traveling internationally, attending musical performances and reading voraciously. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed John XXIII Catholic Community, 24250 Dixie Highway, Perrysburg, Ohio with Father Herb Weber officiating. Public visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at DUNN FUNERAL HOME, 408 W. Wooster St., located in the Historical District of Bowling Green. Nancy requested that in lieu of flowers, gifts might be given to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.
