Mike Heck, one of the most respected prep basketball coaches in Ohio and at Rossford High School, died
Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the Cleveland Clinic.
Mike Heck was born in Lima, on July 24, 1945, and graduated from Lima Senior High School in 1963. He went
on to graduate from Bowling Green State University in 1967.
Mike taught and coached for 32 years at Rossford.
In 1966 in Delaware, Ohio, Heck married the former Kay Burkhart and they were married for 47 years.
Heck is survived by his wife, Kay, of Perrysburg; sons, Kevin (Dawn) of Buffalo, NY, and James of Carmel,
IN; grandchildren, Cooper, Hogan, Andrew, and Jameson of Buffalo, and Anna, Abby, and Ashtyn of Carmel;
his brother, David (Margaret Archangel) of Mason, Ohio; and eight nieces and nephews.
Heck was preceded in death by his father John Heck. His mother, Kathryn (McDonald), of Lima, recently
celebrated 101 years of age.
Heck had been a member of Maumee Presbyterian Church since 1969.
Services will be at the church on 200 East Broadway, Maumee, at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 10, with
visitation and fellowship immediately following until 7 p.m.
