Mary L. Sander, age 88, of Pemberville, OH, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Otterbein Portage
Valley Retirement Village, Pemberville, OH.
She was born on April 17, 1925 in Scranton, PA to Fred and Marguerite (Hodges) Watkins.
Mary spent her childhood in Greenlawn, NY, which is on Long Island and Delmar, NY.
After serving her country in Washington, DC as a Navy Wave during World War II, she attended Murray State
College in Murray, KY, graduating in 1951.
Mary taught in the public schools in Wood and Lucas counties and worked in the order division of American
Lincoln in Bowling Green. She also worked in the dietary department of Heartland of Perrysburg and as a
real estate broker in Bowling Green.
Mary loved music, reading and keeping in contact with her many friends. She was proud of her family, her
community and her service in the military.
Surviving Mary are her children: Stuart (Tammy) McLean of Pittsburgh, PA, Bruce (Barbara) McLean of
Loleta, CA and Scott (Lynne) Sander of Bowling Green, OH; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husbands: Herman R. McLean of Sturgis, Kentucky, and Robert F. Sander of
Pemberville, Ohio.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, March 14, 2014 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Marsh Funeral
Home, 4094 State Route 105, Pemberville, Ohio, with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m.
There will be a bereavement luncheon served at the Pemberville United Methodist Church, Pemberville,
immediately following the memorial service.
