Mary Catherine Wichman, 92, of Decatur, Ga., and formerly of Bowling Green, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 in Decatur, Ga.
She was born December 18, 1920 in Kane, Pa., to John C. and Mary Catherine (Wetmore) Rose.
She married Carlton Cookson in 1945 and they later divorced. She married Willis Wichman in 1976 and he preceded her in death in 1985.
Mary graduated from Kane Pa., High School and was in the Women's Army Corps 1944-45. She also was a member of the American Legion, VFW Auxiliary, and Red Hat Society. She was a member of the Bowling Green Women's Bowling Hall of Fame Association, a school crossing guard for 10 years and a representative for the Democratic Board of Elections.
Mrs. Wichman worked as a Lab Technician for Hawthorn Mellody Dairy in Bowling Green.
Mary is survived by her son, Robert M. (Stephanie) Cookson of Boardman, Ohio, daughters, Sharon (Al) Alvord of Fort Ogden, Fla., Deborah (Tom) Saulino of Decatur, Ga., Cathy (Kevin) Balogh of Broomfield, Colo., 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Stockdale, great-grandson, Alex Nachtrab and nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at DUNN FUNERAL HOME located in the Historical District of Bowling Green, Ohio at 408 W. Wooster St.
Rev. John Randall will officiate. Burial will be in Gibsonburg Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg, OH.
Public visitation will be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time at DUNN FUNERAL HOME.
Memorial contributions may given to Bridge Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association.
