Madeline DeLancy Miller, formerly Madeline Clouse, 89, of Cygnet passed away at 12:24 p.m. on Friday,
March 28, 2014, at the Heritage Manor, Findlay.
Madeline was born on December 9, 1924, to Claude and Bernice Clouse, Sr. in Cygnet, OH.
Madeline and her first husband, Howard DeLancy, lived in Cygnet a number of years and then moved to
Findlay, OH where Howard worked for Marathon Oil Company.
After Howard died, Madeline went back to school and got a degree in teaching from Bowling Green State
University. She had taught in Cygnet, OH for 10 years on her two-year certificate. Madeline was a 1942
graduate of Cygnet High School.
Madeline married her second husband, William Miller in 1990.
Madeline is survived by her brother, Claude (Lois) Clouse, Jr. of Bowling Green.
Madeline was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard DeLancy; second husband, William Miller;
parents, Claude and Bernice (Simon) Clouse, Sr.; and grandparents: Nellie and Oliver Clouse and Emma and
Wallace Simon.
Madeline loved to travel, play the piano, knitting, reading, dancing, writing letters, and sending cards.
She lived in senior towers in Findlay and taught a number of years in Florida. Madeline belonged to the
Fort Findlay Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she was a 50-year member. She
also was a member of the Hancock County Retired Teachers Association, New Beginnings, and attended St.
Andrew’s United Methodist Church, Findlay.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME,
Findlay, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2014. Pastor Debbie Kaylor
will officiate and burial will follow in Knollcrest Cemetery, east of Findlay.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church Music Ministry and or to
the University of Findlay Music Department.
