Mackenzie "Big Mack" Shaffer, age 12, of Cygnet, OH, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at
the Toledo Hospital.
She was born on February 13, 2002, in Bowling Green, OH to Shawn and Erin (Wilhelm) Shaffer.
She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Bowling Green, OH and was a seventh-grade student at
Elmwood School, where she played on the softball, basketball, volleyball teams, and was a member of the
band and on the Honor Roll.
She was a member of both Champion Drive and W.C. Top Shots 4-H clubs. She enjoyed showing swine, cattle
and chickens at the fair. In her spare time she enjoyed hunting with her dad and brothers.
Mackenzie is survived by her parents: Shawn and Erin Shaffer, brothers: Tyler, Tanner and Trever, all at
home, grandparents: Stephen (Darlene) Wilhelm of Custar, Patricia McGiffin-Wilhelm of Bowling Green,
Michele (Robert)
Dewese of Grand Rapids, Douglas (Susan) Shaffer of Cygnet, great-grandparents: Helen Wilhelm of Custar,
Dale and Mae Vollmar of Perrysburg, Larry and Janet Shaffer of Cygnet, Richard and Sandy Swackhamer of
Indiana, Patricia Parker of Indiana, Philip Dewese of Grand Rapids, George and Alice Loomis of Weston,
aunts: Megan (Kyle) McKenzie, Allison (Michael) Betz, Amanda Dewese, uncles: Matt Shaffer, Matt Arnold,
Rick (Sara) Woggerman, seven cousins and many, many friends.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents: Lawrence Wilhelm, Cloyce and Janis McGiffin.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
on Wednesday July 23, 2014 from the Marsh Funeral Home, 4094 State Rt. 105, Pemberville, OH.
A funeral Mass will be conducted on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church,
Bowling Green, OH. Officiating will be Father Mark Davis.
Interment will be in Graham Cemetery, Wayne, OH.
There will be a bereavement luncheon served at Elmwood Local School immediately following the cemetery
committal services.
