Lola-Darnell-obitLola Mae Darnell, 76, died Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Bowling Green Manor where she had resided the last 3 years. Lola was born July 30, 1935 in southern Illinois to Walter and Eva Smith. She retired from L.O.F. after 30 years of dedicated service.
Lola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry; son, Donald; brother, Cecil and 2 sisters: Sylvia West and Lila Smith. She is survived by her children: Rhonda (Dave) Jenkins, Dana (Jean), David (Anna) and Danny Darnell. She also leaves 13 grandchildren: Jamie, Sara, Amy, Roxanne, Miranda, Brandon, Richard, Melissa, Cindy, Larry, Christina, Rich and Jeff and 7 great-grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by her brothers: Homer (Mert), Joe (Sue), Richard (Nancy); her devoted sister, Gloria Ruth (Tom) Kaucher and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 10th at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Ave. where services will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Forest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association. A sincere and heartfelt "thank you" goes to those wonderful caregivers at Bowling Green Manor. They are truly angels on earth.
