Lewis S. McDonald

Lewis S. McDonald, age 84, of Wayne, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on
Friday (March 7, 2014) at his home.
He was born on June 10, 1929 in Fostoria, Ohio to the late Paul J. and Flora M. (Steiner) McDonald. Lewis
married Dolores J. Murphy on October 3, 1954 in Corpus Christy, Texas on a Naval Base.
Surviving Lewis are his loving wife of 59 years, Dolores; son, Timothy (Sue) McDonald of Risingsun, Ohio;
daughters, Cindy (Gary) Cron of Portage, Ohio, and Lorrie (Gary Hawk) Hammer of Rossford, Ohio;
brothers, Robert (Vilate) McDonald of Fruit Heights, Utah, LeRoy (Shirley) McDonald of Fostoria, Ohio,
Melvin (Nancy) McDonald of Bowling Green, Ohio; sisters, Helen Kauffman of Fostoria, Ohio, Claudell
(Chuck) Wolford of Bowling Green, Ohio, Kay (Leonard) Chapman of Bloomdale, Ohio, Carol (Vaughn) Wright
of Bloomdale, Ohio; grandchildren, Michelle Cicigoi of Bowling Green, Ohio, Melanie (Aaron) Kauffman of
Findlay, Ohio, Beth (Michael) Johnston of Menominee, Michigan, Aaron (Donna) Hammer of Clyde, Ohio,
Jenny Hawk, Kyle Hawk both of Rossford, Ohio, Jason (Stephanie) Herr of Wayne, Ohio, Jerimy (Sarah) Herr
of Risingsun, Ohio; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Flora, and grandson Jason Cron.
Lewis served his country proudly in the Navy during the Korean War. He retired from the Navy in December
of 1966 after 20 years of service. He then worked as a Service Repair man for many years for Economics
Laboratories, working on industrial sized washers and dryers, and kitchen appliances. Lewis was a member
of the Fleet Reserves.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday (March 11, 2014) at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne,
Ohio, where a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday (March 12, 2014).
Burial will be in Graham Cemetery near Wayne with military honors performed by the Albert Bowe American
Legion Post #338.
A bereavement luncheon will follow at the Wayne United Methodist Church.
Memorial donations may be made to the Wayne Volunteer Fire Department.
