Laura Alma Lyman Brecher of Toledo Ohio, died May 31, 2013 in Sunset House Toledo.
Laura was born in Mitchell South Dakota on October 26, 1932 to Howard Fiske and Grace Joergensen Lyman, the fifth of nine children, Bruce, Ralph and Helen of blessed memory as well as Ruth, Celia, Aldine, Louise and Diane.
She attended Country Day School and Mitchell High School in South Dakota, where she was involved in 4-H. Following high school she attended Boise Junior College and went on to Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing in Baltimore, graduating with an R.N. degree in 1955 and a B.S.N. in 1958.
Following graduation she was employed at Hopkins Hospital as a pediatric nurse, becoming head nurse by the time she left in 1963. She relocated to Children's Hospital in Washington DC where she also taught student nurses and met her husband Arthur Brecher, marrying on June 19, 1966 in the Washington Hebrew Congregation. Laura and Arthur with son Ben relocated to Bowling Green Ohio in 1969 where in 1970 daughter Sharon was born and Laura became a full time Mom. In 1976 the family moved to Toledo where Laura taught nursing at the University of Toledo and former Medical College of Oho. Subsequently, she was employed with VSN (visiting nurses) and 10 years at Caring Services at Toledo Hospital, followed by retirement.
In addition to Laura's nursing degrees, she earned a Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling at the University of Toledo. She was affectionately known as the "red headed nurse" over her 42-year career, she cared for thousands of patients and counseled patients and families through end of life times. Laura will be remembered as a person who walked humbly with all peoplekind, spreading love, mercy and justice.
Surviving are her husband Arthur, children Benjamin Brecher of Santa Barbara California and Sharon Spencer of Yakima Washington, and her five sisters.

Interment Eagle Point Cemetery, Rossford Ohio.
