Larry Martin King, 72, of Bloomdale, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, in Toledo, OH.
He was born on July 24, 1941 on Cow Run near Cottageville, West Virginia to Cletis and Atha(Flowers) King. Larry attended Ripley High School in Ripley, WV.
He worked at the Chrysler Corporation Foundry in Fostoria, OH before retiring from General Dynamics in Lima, OH in 1995.
After retirement Larry and his wife, were proud owners of Gooseland, U.S.A., a greenhouse and concrete lawn ornament business.
Larry was an avid collector of antiques, particularly machines and engines. He was a member of the NW Ohio Antique Machinery Association and the Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Association. When he would purchase a new engine, his family would ask why he needed another. He would respond with a grin "So, I can die with the most toys."
Larry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shelba (Ratliff) King; children, Annette (Douglas) Swisher of Rawson, Duane (Lisa) King of Portage, and Jeffrey (Robin) King of Weston; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Doris Barr of Florida, Sandra (Gary) Rhodes, and Dona (Gene) Wilcox of Findlay; three brothers, Marvin (Kay) King, of Findlay, Jerald King of Fostoria, and Doyle (Lola) King, of California; a sister-in-law, Helen King, of Bloomdale; brothers-in-law, Bobby (Sharon) Ratliff, of Ripley, WV and Gerald (Francis) Ratliff, of Charleston, WV;
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Lisa Jo King; brothers, Cletis King, Jr. and Ralph King; and sisters-in-law, Betty King, and Ann King.
Family and friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, September 23rd, at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Road, Findlay (419-422-1500). A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 24th at 3 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Brett Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in Weaver Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Larry's name may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
