shillingBowling Green - L. Bernadine Shilling, 77, of Summerfield Blvd., Bowling Green and formerly of Paradise Road, Orrville, passed away Friday morning, December 4, 2009, at Wood County Hospital in Bowling Green, following a period of declining health.
Bernadine was born April 29, 1932, in Malta, Ohio, the daughter of Charles C. and Claudia I. (Allen) Hill. She was a 1950 graduate of Malta- McConnelsville High School, and earned her Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Otterbein College in 1954. She later earned her post-graduate degree from Ohio University.  Bernadine was united in marriage to Fred Shilling on June 19, 1955, in Malta, Ohio. He died August 10, 2006. She was a teacher for forty years, first  teaching at the Orrville High School and later at the Orrville Junior High School. She was a retired member of the National, Ohio, and Orrville Education Association's. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bowling Green, and a former member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Orrville, where she had been a choir director for many years. Bernadine enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed doing crafts, and RV traveling.
Surviving is her son, David A.(Victoria) Shilling of Bowling Green; and two grandchildren, Michael Shilling and Mary Shilling.
Services will be held at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak Street, Orrville, Ohio 44667, on Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at 11:00 am, with Revs. David Kowaleski and Terry Litton officiating. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery, Orrville.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening, December 7, 2009, from 5-8 pm.
