Kathryn-Niekro-Obituary-PhotoKathryn R. Niekro, 94, of Bowling Green, Ohio and formerly of Findlay and Cambridge, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Bridge Hospice in Bowling Green.
Kathryn was born in Pennsylvania, to the late Charles and Rosalie (Soika) Redosh. Kathryn married Harry Niekro in Wheeling, West Virginia and he preceded her in death along with their only daughter Rosalie Stevens in 2004, and a son-in-law, Berton Stevens in 2007.
Kathryn is survived by her three grandsons: Brian B. Stevens of Columbus, Ohio; Jon B. Stevens of Atlanta; Bruce B. (Kim) Stevens of Bowling Green; four great-grandsons: Jonathon D.; Warren G.; Jackson L. and Matthew B. Stevens and a sister: Margaret Tenant of St. Clairsville, Ohio.
Along with her parents, husband, daughter and son-in- law, Kathryn was preceded in death by a brother, Michael, and two sisters, Fran and Anna.
Kathryn was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Bowling Green, Ohio. She enjoyed attending church with her grandson, Bruce and his family.
Kathryn worked for the National Cash Register Company in Cambridge, Ohio, building cash registers until her retirement.
Kathryn was known for her cooking and also making Ukranian Easter Eggs which she loved to make with her daughter, Rosalie. She was very active in the Wood County Senior Citizen Center where she loved to spend time with friends. Kathryn was an avid baseball fan and loved to watch the Cleveland Indians. According to her family, Kathryn was the kind of grandma that became a grandma to everyone who met her.
Visitation for Kathryn will be held on Sunday, February 17, 2013 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home Funeral Home & Crematory, 1460 W. Wooster St., PO Box 648, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2013 in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME REMEMBRANCE CHAPEL with Pastor Henry Siebert officiating. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, February 18, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cambridge, Ohio with the Rev. Robert D. Borer officiating.
Memorial donations in Kathryn's honor may be made to the American Cancer Society, 740 Commerce Drive, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551.
