Karen Jeanette Kammerzell lost her courageous battle with leukemia on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, with her mother, friend and faithful dog Jewel by her side.
Karen was born in Goshen, Indiana, April 5th 1975 to Linda (Fairchild) and Robert Smead Jr. She is survived by her mother Linda Smead, of Rudolph, brothers Daniel, of Rudolph and Blaine, of Bowling Green.
She was preceded in death by her father and infant sons Jesse Kammerzell and Ryker Kammerzell.
She graduated from Elmwood High School, Bowling Green State University and University of Colorado at Boulder.
Karen taught one year at Wayne Elementary and 11 years at Stott Elementary in Arvada, CO.
She married Billy Kammerzell Jr. in 2008 and they were divorced in 2013. The highlight of her life was her stepdaughter Sami Kammerzell.
Memorials may be made to a fund for Sami Kammerzell's education c/o Linda Smead, or Stott Elementary School, 6600 Yank Way, Arvada CO 80004.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Village View Christian Church, 801 West Poe Road, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402, on Tuesday, July 2, with visitation from 2 to 5 and a service at 5 p.m.
