Joseph Lee, age 92, of Waterville, Ohio passed away peacefully on March 7, 2014 in Lakes of Monclova
surrounded by his loving family.
Joseph was born on February 24, 1922 in Hingning, Guangdong, China to Mr. and Mrs. Lee.
He graduated from high school in the Meijiang District. In 1941, he graduated from college.
From 1941 to 1944, he was captain of a central government station in Changsha. In 1944, he moved to the
Nanking region, and then in 1946 he moved to Shanghai and worked for the CAT company, responsible for
radio communications with airplanes. In 1946, he married his first wife, Cecilia Tang Yuan, and they
left communist China for Hong Kong where he worked in the textile/export industry.
In 1963, Joseph and his family immigrated to the United States of America and lived in Toledo, Ohio.
Joseph was preceded in death by Cecilia Tang Yuan who passed away in 1963. He later married Jennifer Lee
in 1968.
Joseph worked for Sears Roebuck & Company for 25 years and was the owner of Lee’s Restaurant in
Waterville, Ohio and BG Café in Bowling Green, Ohio.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Maumee and a devoted Catholic.
Joseph enjoyed Chinese cuisine/dim sum and sweets, swimming, tai chi, and soccer. He also enjoyed
monitoring the stock market.
In addition to Jennifer who was his wife of 45 years, Joseph is survived by his children: Lillian
(Larry), Mimi (Timothy), Mary (John), Theresa (Jim), Vanessa (Graham), Stephen; his grandchildren:
Daniel, Jenny, Kelly, Kevin, Shannon, Pearl, Jimmy, Alexander, and Anthony; his great-grandchildren:
James, Keegan, Maddox; and siblings: Fr. Joseph C. J. Lee, and Malin (Jim) Korynta.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Joseph C. K. Lee, Joseph C. M. Lee and Sr. Catherin
Lee.
The visitation was held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 from 9 to 10.30 a.m. at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral
Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio.
Services were held following visitation at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 104 W. Broadway Street,
Maumee, OH 43536.
