Joseph "Papa Joe" Jagodzinski, age 94, formerly of Sandralee Dr. in Toledo, passed away on
Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Bowling Green Manor, Bowling Green, OH.
He was born on February 14, 1919 in Toledo, OH to Ignatius and Veronica (Lipowski) Jagodzinski.
A WWII U.S. Army Veteran, Joseph retired from Meilink Steel Safe Co. in 1981 after 31 years of employment
as a welder. He had previously worked for American Can and Columbia Burner.
Joseph was longtime parishioner of Regina Coeli Catholic Church, where he worked for many years as the
church custodian. He also volunteered there as an usher and was a member of the church’s Holy Name and
St. Vincent De Paul Societies.
Joseph’s survivors include his children, Barbara Bagrowski, James (Debra) Jagodzinski and Richard
(Leanna) Jagodzinski; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews,
great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Eleanor Michalski Jagodzinski; son-in-law,
Larry Bagrowski; granddaughter, Angel Jagodzinski; and 12 siblings.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, January 30 from 2-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe,
114 E. Alexis Rd., with recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will begin on Friday at 9:30
a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in Regina Coeli Church at 10 a.m. The Lucas
County Burial Corps will conclude with a Military Committal Service in Calvary Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff of Bowling Green Manor for their kindness and
support throughout Joe’s stay.
