John M. "Jack" Current, 82, of Jerry City, passed into the waiting arms of his Lord and Savior Sunday evening surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on April 4, 1931, to the late Otto and Dorothy Current.
Jack, as he was called by those who knew him best, is survived by his wife, Evelyn M. (Wright) Current whom he selflessly loved for 63 years. Also surviving are his five children: Becky (Joel) Hansen, Perrysburg, OH, John A. Current, Weston, OH, Jaclyn "Jackie" (Joe) Tracy, Bowling Green, OH, William "Bill" (Kandy) Current, Bowling Green, OH, and Joy (Denny) Engle, Jerry City, OH; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters: Ann (Clarence) Miller, Bowling Green and Judy (Richard) Heimann, Ocala, FL.
John enjoyed working during his life and is a former employee of the Johns-Manville Plant #7 Research Facility in Waterville, OH and D.S. Brown Co. of North Baltimore, OH.
He is also a charter member of the Board of Trustees for the Northwest Ohio Water and Sewer District.
He most enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed being outdoors, landscaping and looking after his lawn and flowers. John was an avid auto racing fan, where he enjoyed watching a good driver have a fine race. Other interests include oil painting and ink and pencil drawing. He displayed his talent and had won several awards at local art shows.
A private family funeral will be held on Thursday. Burial will be in Jerry City Cemetery, Portage Township.
A celebration of his life and public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cygnet Faith United Methodist Church.
