John C. Tyson
John C. Tyson, age 91, of Wayne, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday (March 25, 2013) at Bowling Green Manor surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on July 25, 1921 to the late Charles D. and Lillian D. (Clemens) Tyson. He married Ona Lee Yost on October 3, 1946 in Smith Center, Kansas. She passed away on August 31, 2008.
Surviving are sisters, Mary P. Basel of Galloway, Ohio, Cecil Rae Whitacre of Fostoria, Ohio and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lillian; wife, Ona Lee Tyson; stillborn son, John Leslie Tyson; daughter, Cynthia L. Tyson; brother, Gerald Leslie Tyson; sisters, Lena Von Dale Sherman and Viola Fern Whitacre.
John served his country proudly in the Air Force during WWII.
He was a 1939 graduate of Montgomery Township High School, he was a self employed carpenter, and also worked at Pfizer in Gibsonburg as a Lab Technician.
John was a member at the former Wayne Legion Post # 361, a member at the Bowling Green VFW Post # 1148, and was a member of the 461st & 484th Bombardment Group Association. John was a member of the Wayne Church of Christ.
Friends will be received on Wednesday (March 27, 2013) from 4 to 8 p.m. at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio, where a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday (March 28, 2013) at 11 a.m. with Minister John Amstutz officiating. Burial will be at Graham Cemetery in Wayne, with Military Honors performed by the Wood County Military Detail.
A luncheon will immediately follow at the Wayne Church of Christ.
Memorial donations may be made to the Wayne Church of Christ or Bridge Home Health and Hospice of Bowling Green.
