Joanna L. King, age 52, of Indianapolis, IN, formerly of Luckey, OH, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis, IN.
She was born on February 14, 1961 in Fremont OH to James and Helen (Blankenship) King.
Joanna lived life to the fullest which began as a young child. At the young age of nine, Joanna sang gospel songs alongside her older sister and two younger brothers in a group known as the "Tres Reys." They traveled to local churches and fairs all over the Toledo area and performed live on WMGS radio station in Bowling Green.
She attended Eastwood High School, graduating in 1979, and then enlisted in the United States Coast Guard stationed on Governors Island, New York. She started her career in New York City at John Nuveen investment banking, lived in Chicago, and eventually worked at the Indiana State Senate up until her illness in 2005.
Joanna loved to garden, crochet and quilt, and spoil all 29 of her nieces and nephews who affectionately referred to her as "Auntie Jo" but her pride and joy were her puppies, Coco and Anteaus.
Surviving Joanna is her loving companion: Donald Pearman, father: James King, siblings: Delbert (Lou) Parmer, Darrell Parmer, Rhonda Sbrocchi, Howard King, Boyd (Pikun) King, Rebecca King, Cindy (Brad) Wilson, Troy (Shannon) King, Jay (Andrea) King, Glen (Alayna) King, Brenda King and Buddy (Brittany) King,
She was preceded in death by her mother: Helen King.
Friends and family will be received at the Marsh Funeral Home, 110 Main Street Luckey, OH on Saturday, August 24, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with funeral services to immediately follow. Officiating will be Rev. James Hughes. Interment will be in Troy Township Cemetery, Luckey, OH.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to a charity of the donor's choice.

Thank you to the doctors and nurses at University of Indiana Hospital Oncology Department for the kindness and compassion you shared with Joanna. Also, thank you to all her friends at Christian Outlook Church for their love and support for our dear Joanna. She touched so many lives with her vibrant personality, she will truly be missed.
