James R. Reitzel, age 89, of Perrysburg, OH, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, with family present.
He was born on August 14, 1923 to Harold and Edith (Jameson) Reitzel. He married Jessie McCutchen on October 14, 1945, and she preceded him in death on May 2, 2009. Jim married Janet Swartz on September 4, 2012.
He was a farmer and an operating engineer working out of Operating Engineers Local #18, Toledo, OH.
His memberships included: St. John’s Lutheran Church, Stony Ridge, OH, various Masonic Lodges and was a life-long member of Post # 2984 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Northwood, OH.
Jim proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1945.
Jim is survived by his wife: Janet, children: Judith Reitzel (Dwight Osterud), James (Bonnie) Reitzel Jr., Janet Reitzel (Patrick Eaken), Jennifer (Joe) Reitzel-Martinez; grandchildren: Kristina Reitzel (David Spies), Jameson Reitzel; and brother: Robert (Mary Jane) Reitzel.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jessie, and sister, Doris Parlette.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, November 30, 2012 from 3-8 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Stony Ridge, OH, where there will be additional visitation on Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 10-11 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Daniel Beaudion. Interment will be in New Belleville Ridge Cemetery, Dowling, OH. A luncheon will be served at the church immediately following the cemetery committal services.
Arrangements are being handled by the Marsh Funeral Home, Luckey, OH.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to: St. John’s Lutheran Church, Honor Flight of Northwest Ohio or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
