Helen M. Roe, 98, of Bowling Green, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013.Helen was born in
Westhope, Ohio to the late Charles and Nellie (Smith) Wade. She married Berstel Roe Jr. on February 11, 1936
and he passed away on March 31, 1995.Helen is survived by her sons: Berstel (Kay) Roe III of Weston and
Charles Roe of Hudson, Florida; grandchildren: Pamela (Bob) Manuel, Lynda (Dennis) Hafner, David (Jani) Roe,
Steve (Peggy) Stiger, Shawn (Nan) Stiger, and Shad (Kerri) Stiger; seven foster grandchildren; 15
great-grandchildren, six foster great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; half sisters:
Suzanne Cramner of Findlay and Mary Lou Burkhart of Bowling Green; and a half brother, Robert Wade of
Jacksonville, Florida.She was preceded in death by her two daughters: Karen Roe and Nancy Stiger and two
brothers and two sisters and her special friend Franklin Knauss Sr.Helen was a member of the Weston Church
of Christ and their Ladies Missionary Group, the Weston O.E.S #198 and the Retired Teachers
Association.Helen taught school for the Otsego Elementary Schools and the Bowling Green City Schools at Crim
Elementary and was one of the first teachers in the Special Education Program.Helen and her husband Berstel
enjoyed travelling to Haines City, Florida and Bright Lake Ontario, Canada, during their retirement.She
loved to knit, crochet, and play bridge, cards and dominos. Helen after retiring enjoyed volunteering at the
Wood County Senior Citizen Center. She was very family oriented and truly loved spending time with her
family.Visitation for Helen will be on Friday, December 6, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the DECK-HANNEMAN
FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1460 W. Wooster St., Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. Helen’s funeral service
will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Weston
