Obituary-Photo-Oberhaus-HaroldHarold Wayne Oberhaus, 69, of Bowling Green, went to his heavenly home Friday, August 16, 2013.
He was born July 6, 1944 in Henry County to Raymond and Lorena (Baden) Oberhaus. In 1964, he married Shirley Ann Eis in Holgate, Ohio.
He had four brothers, Paul (deceased), Luther in Louisville, KY, James in Bluffton and Jerry in Holgate.
He was a graduate of Holgate High School and Stautzenberger Business College. He had careers in accounting and insurance and retired as a payroll clerk from the City of Bowling Green in 2011.
He was very active member of St. Marks Lutheran Church in Bowling Green, including serving on council, endowment, Church School Superintendent, church treasurer, sang in the church choir and later the Praise Team, He became a Stephen Minister and took care of the church lawn. He was also a past Jaycee and member of the Farm Bureau Grand Diamonds council. He lived in Henry and Wood counties his entire life. He was a farmer at heart and was involved in some way with farming since he was a child.
Mainly Harold loved helping others; and family time, camping, snowmobiling, driving on trips, putting puzzles together and family gatherings. He often could be found on his John Deere mowers.
Harold was a dedicated, hard working family man who loved the Lord. Friends and family often think of him as a kind, helpful, "gentleman."
He is survived by his spouse of 49 years, Shirley (Eis) Oberhaus and mother, Lorena Oberhaus. Also survivors are a daughter, Joy Marie (Gwynn) Oberhaus and son-in-law Andy; and a son, Roy Harold Oberhaus and daughter-in-law Kathy. He had three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond and brother, Paul.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 19, 2013 from 3 to 8 p.m. in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1460 W. Wooster St., P.O Box 648 Bowling Green, Ohio 43402.
Harold's Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the St. Marks Lutheran Church, 315 S. College Dr., Bowling Green, Ohio 43402, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., Pastor Henry Seibert presiding.
Following the funeral service a luncheon will be served at the church.
Interment will be held at 2 p.m. in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Holgate.
Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested for St. Marks Lutheran Church or the donor's choice.
