Freeda Jane Houk, 93, of McComb, passed away at 7:20 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Briar Hill Health
Campus, North Baltimore.
She was born on May 22,1921, in Cygnet, OH, to the late Perry and Elzina (Coffman) Hamman. She married
Floyd "Frenchie" Kline and he preceded her in death. She later married Roy C. Houk and he also
preceded her in death.
Freeda is survived by several step-children, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and
step-great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers: Dowling, Roy, Rex, Wilbur and Clayton Hamman; her sisters:
Beatrice Williams, Flossie Sherbrook, Lena Purkey, Tressie Campbell, Neva Brumbaugh, Elsie Rosendale and
Evelyn Peterson.
Freeda was a member of the Portage Chapel United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Women. She
loved to sing and had a great sense of humor.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon, Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North
Baltimore, with Pastor Rick Henson officiating.
Burial will be in Bethel/Ten Mile Cemetery, Portage Township.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and 2 hours (10 a.m.to 12 noon) prior to the service
Wednesday at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME.
