frances-hofner_00001Frances M. Hofner, 97, of Tontogany, OH died January 5, 2010 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, OH.
She was born September 26, 1912 in Tontogany, OH to John and Edith (Wenig) Rebbe.
Frances was a 1930 graduate of Washington Twp. School in Tontogany, OH. She attended Bowling Green Normal School, earning her teaching degree.
She started a kindergarten class in Tontogany and later was a nursery school provider at the Walnut St. School in Rossford, OH. Frances taught Sunday school at Tontogany Methodist Church and Haskins Federated Church, now known as Haskins Community Church, where she was a member. She was also a member of the Women's Guild at church and Oriana Rebekah Lodge #774.
Frances married Richard "Mike" Hofner June 28, 1936; he preceded her in death August 6, 2003. Together they owned and operated Vollmar's Amusement Park for over 25 years.

She is survived by sons, Ray of Tontogany, Gary of Whitehouse, OH, William of Bowling Green, OH, Larry of Rudolph, OH and Edward of Haskins, OH, daughter, Martha Rupp of Whitehouse, OH, 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, sons, Robert and Joseph, and brother, Dean Rebbe.
Friends and family may call Friday, January 8, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Peinert Funeral Home, Tontogany. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Haskins Community Church with Pastor Jennifer Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Union Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
